iNSTITUTION: Cardiff University, School of City and Regional Planning
DEGREE OFFERED: Sustainability, Planning, and Environmental Policy (M.Sc.)
DESCRIPTION: This program is taught in the School of City and Regional Planning and links the theoretical debates about sustainability with the practical dimensions of environmental policy formulation and implementation. The course includes an overseas field study visit and is assessed through written, practical and project work. The course consists of ten taught modules, including Theories and Principles of Sustainable Development, Sustainable Towns and Cities, Environmental Assessment and Corporate Environmental Management.

DESCRIPTION: Students in this program will receive masters degrees from each of the institutions participating in the consortium. The program of study "prepares students for identifying, developing and implementing integrated solutions to environmental challenges, especially in an international context." DESCRIPTION: The M.E.M. degree programs "train students to understand the scientific basis of environmental problems, as well as the social, political and economic factors that determine effective policy options for their solution." The M.F. degree focuses on "sustainable management of forested ecosystems." The Ph.D. provides students the opportunity to study one topic at a greater depth.

DESCRIPTION: Students in this program will grapple with interrelated challenges such as global climate change, natural resource depletion, financial sustainability, and innovative organizational change. The program is distinctive in establishing the integral relationship among sustainability goals and prepares students for careers as analysts or implementers of sustainability policies in government, industry, and not-for-profit organizations.

DEGREE OFFERED: Master of Earth and Environmental Resources Management (MEERM)
DESCRIPTION: "The School of the Environment offers the MEERM degree which is designed to provide individual curricula suited for students interested in management positions in earth resources (minerals, water, sustainable development within ecosystems) or environmental resources (safe and effective use or remediation of man-made materials into different ecosystems). The program also allows students with an interest in earth and environmental resources to tailor a graduate degree program to their own particular interests and goals. Recent MEERM students have come from backgrounds as diverse as accounting, journalism, geology and engineering, which allows them to learn from each other as well as from the faculty." The School of the Environment also cooperates with USC School of Law to allow students to pursue a Law Degree as a dual degree with the MEERM.
